MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Hello School Nutrition Leaders,

As we progress through this new year together, I am honored and grateful to serve as President of the School Nutrition Association of Michigan. Every day, you bring purpose, compassion, and creativity to the children and communities you serve—and it is that spirit that continues to elevate our profession and strengthen our mission.

Over the past year, we witnessed remarkable teamwork across Michigan. Whether navigating staffing challenges, implementing new regulations, strengthening menus, or expanding meal access, you have shown resilience and innovation at every turn. Your work is essential, and it makes a meaningful difference in the lives of students who rely on us for nourishment, stability, and connection.

For those who joined us at the SNAM Annual Conference in Battle Creek, thank you for bringing your energy and ideas to an inspiring few days of learning and networking. The collaboration, enthusiasm, and shared expertise were truly outstanding. If you weren’t able to attend, I hope you will plan to join us in November 2026 in Kalamazoo. Our committees are already hard at work crafting another engaging, forward-thinking event that will support your professional growth and strengthen the network that makes SNAM so special.

This year, my focus is on connection, communication, and support. We are strongest when we learn from one another and when we lift each other up. SNAM is here to provide resources, training, advocacy, and a statewide community you can rely on. I encourage you to reach out, get involved, and use the tools available to you—no one in this field should feel like they are navigating challenges alone. If you are not yet a member, I warmly invite you to join us. Together, we can continue building a vibrant community of Child Nutrition Professionals who share the same passion for feeding Michigan’s children with dignity, excellence, and care.

Thank you for the work you do every single day. It is my privilege to serve you this year. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can do to support you, your team, or your district.
